Income inequality remains a development challenge because unequal access to income, economic opportunities and productive resources affects overall welfare. In Nigeria, inequality is reflected in disparities in education, healthcare, employment, infrastructure, social protection and living standards. Taraba State provides an important context because of its agrarian economy, rural communities and differences in deprivation. This paper examines the relationship between income inequality and human development in Taraba State, focusing on education, healthcare, employment, poverty and living standards. The study adopts a documentary research design and relies on evidence from scholarly publications, government reports, policy documents and development institutions. Documentary content analysis identifies recurring patterns and relationships. The analysis indicates that unequal access to income-generating opportunities, productive assets and public services contributes to differences in human-development outcomes. The paper recommends inclusive employment, agricultural development, improved education and healthcare, rural infrastructure and targeted social protection to promote equitable human development in Taraba State.
